When you see a high-spirited, fun-loving girl squad in a show, what comes to your mind? The last time you spent a holiday with your mates? Or perhaps a movie that you cozied up to binge-watch together? Or all the vacation plans you made with your girls that never saw the light of day? Since the release of the first season of Four More Shots Please! on Amazon Prime Video, which features a group of four ambitious, rebellious, witty and fresh women, we’ve been reminded of all of the above and something more.
With Anjana’s (played by Kirti Kulhari) halter dresses and bordeaux jumpsuits; Siddhi’s (Maanvi Gagroo) chic and floral outfits; Damini’s (Sayani Gupta) sequinned tops and bodycon dresses; and Umang’s (Bani J) sporty looks, we couldn’t help but notice the fashion antics of the crew.
Apart from the storyline, what made the web television series’ pilot season a highly watchable one was its high fashion and stunning appeal. And once again, with the trailer of the second season already out, it seems like the audience is in for another stylish ride. Our favourite all-female television heroes will be living up to the legacy they had left behind earlier.
If you think florals are just for day time, take inspiration from Sayani Gupta’s pastel sari that she paired with a gold sequinned blouse after sunset. What we loved the most was the fact that she went for subtle makeup and slicked back hair, but compensated it all with a royal necklace and jhumkas. Apart from that, while Bani J’s elaborate arm tattoo is all she needs to ace her usual sporty chic vibe, she used it in her favour to pull off a well put-together traditional look as well. It seamlessly complements the understated blouse and muted sari. Maanvi Gagroo, on the other hand, may have gone for an offbeat colour for a crop top and long skirt, she definitely made it to our Pinterest board with this one. Her one-shoulder top and flared skirt served as a comfortable, and modern take on Indian wear. Finally, when Kirti Kulhari entered the frame sporting that embroidered net sari, which was partly a classic cherry red ensemble, she swept our attention in a jiffy.
However, even a quick survey of the show would be enough to tell you that their pretty dresses, elegant heels and edgy outfits were what they were mostly flaunting, throughout.
Since we really can’t pick the best one among these, let’s start from the left. Bani’s character is a delight to watch, not just because she’s rebellious and extremely motivated, but also because her style is just as effortless. The patterned wrap-around and knotted top here gave her pool-side look a bohemian vibe. That little daisy in the hair? It was the perfect finishing touch. Kirti, a successful lawyer and a single mom, is an absolute boss. And isn’t that what she looks like in this frame as well? Her breezy halter dress (notice the frill detailing on the waist) complements her short, feathered hair beautifully.
The quirky and fun Maanvi, too, never left us disappointed with her bright and lively looks. The yellow floral dress is a fitting example of that. What’s even more likeable in her style are the stacked sleek necklaces and round earrings. The bordeaux dress seen on the passionate and strong Sayani is a diversion from her usually professional style. The slight peek of the strappy back convinced us to consider this as one of her best looks. Though subtle, something that her character mostly prefers, the pop of colour makes the entire outfit quite appealing.
The story doesn’t end there. The fashion inspiration we received from the first season will continue. There are some particular pieces we loved, there are entire looks that we admired, and there are casual attires that we just couldn’t ignore. However, with the second season hitting our screens on April 17, we are expecting even more colour, detail and drama this time around. The show will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
