True to the spirit of the Miss India crown that she bagged at the age of 22, Neha Dhupia is a woman of many talents. Having embarked on a career in Bollywood, she has since diversified and today serves as a judge on the popular Roadies franchise, has run four seasons of her star-studded podcast, #NoFilterNeha and hosted her fashion series Styled By Neha on TV.
When she isn’t doing either, she can be found keeping her sartorial cred in place on the red carpet, runway, along with her off-duty chic practiced to perfection simultaneously. Here, we chart her style transformation from her pageant days to now.
After being crowned Miss India in 2002, Dhupia has made the most of her time in showbiz since. She forayed into Bollywood with Qayamat: City Under Threat (2003), and became a mainstay with Julie (2004), Chup Chup Ke (2006) and, more recently, Hindi Medium (2017), Tumhari Sullu (2017), Lust Stories (2018) and short film Devi (2020). She has made her presence felt on the small screen by booking a berth on the judges’ panel of MTV Roadies, while simultaneously hosting celebrity chat shows like Bffs With Vogue and her eponymous podcast.
Neha Dhupia’s style files
Counted among the most promising talents as a debutante, the model made the most of her statuesque figure with fitted silhouettes. 2010 had her opting for ruched waists and halter necks, while 2012 was the year of relaxed silhouettes with breezy palazzo pants and easy separates. Always a fan of the androgynous movement, Dhupia could be regularly found ditching the dreamy gowns on the red carpet in favour of formal pant suits and draped silhouettes. Not one to shy away from playing into her feminine side either, she favoured plunging necklines and strategic cutouts as well in 2013.
The years to follow truly cemented her status as a sartorial force to reckon with. 2015 had her taking to form-flattering separates and smart layering. The good news continued in 2016 as she championed homegrown labels like Chola and The Meraki Project alongside the Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and Payal Khandwala outfits of her wardrobe. The star also believes in extending the never-say-never adage to her wardrobe, and this year has seen her return to her former days with glam gowns with cutouts, thigh-high slits and vintage metallics.
Come 2018, Neha Dhupia tied the knot with Angad Bedi in a private ceremony and broke the big news to their fans on Instagram. For the day-time affair, the actor ditched traditional choices like bright red and made a strong case for pastel bridal wear in a minimal blush pink lehenga by Anita Dongre. Since then, she has only taken bolder risks with her dressing choices. As a regular face on reality TV and chat chows, Dhupia is often spotted in modern silhouettes including blazers, pleated midi skirts, track suits and anything but basic drapes for her Indian wear. While brands like Rimzim Dadu, Masaba, Ikai, Chola, Hemant and Nandita are her wardrobe mainstays, Dhupia has also spotlights upcoming names Divya Sheth, Dev R Nil and Pooja Shroff.
